CHESTER MAN's NEEDLEWORK MUCH ADMIRED
Among the 131 examples of needlework currently on display at a major exhibition of modern needlework in the York City Art Gallery is a major piece of work by Mr. Gerrie Kostick. it is a panel, some 13 ft. long, worked in cancva stitches and depicting Eastgate Street Chester. It is understood that this work took him 4,000 hours to complete.
many of the 7,000 people who have so far attended the exhibition have expressed admiration for Gerrie Kostick's work, considering it one of the finest exhibits anong the many outstanding examples of modern needlework on dispaly, many of them by leading designers in Great Britain and from overseas.
The exhibition, entitled 'EMBROIDERY '83 ' has been organised by the York Minster Broderers' Guild.
