At the Forest Edge

At the forest edge is distinct from the edge of the forest. The title suggest that the viewer has come to the edge of the forest and is contemplating its dark recesses.
On the lefthand side the tree is struggling to exist and the grey and black tones indicate that it is nearly a terminal struggle.
However when the tree is felled it turns into wood, and the glory of the timber when it is polished and prepared can be seen on the right hand side with the use of glowing colours.
Foliage plays an important part of the life of the forest and the canopy of leaves is the living part of this particular piece.
It is a mysterious piece with the viewer wondering whether or not to go further into the forest. Perhaps one should just stand and stare.
