The Ghost of the Weis is worked in wool, inspired by a minature in the Book of kells in Trinity College, Dublin library. The Book of Kells, from latest research, began in the early part of the 8th ventury in Iona, was taken to the continent, where on its return to Kells its siver bejewelled cover was ripped off together with several vellum sheets. The Weis were spirits which hovered on the crest of waves and devoured the bodies of those who perished at sea.
